Let's go for a walk

Axel on a walk.
Since it's Work Out Everyday in June going on over here, I've been going on lots of long walks with my kids.  It's the perfect way to get some activity into my life with out having to wait for Adam to get home or find a babysitter.  In the beginning I would head out and then 10 minutes in I would be wishing for something I had forgotten.  So I wanted to share my "necessities" for talking long walks.

Sunglasses!
Half the time we're walking into the sun (the other half it's to our backs) and I get a lovely headache if I forget these!

Chapstick
Nothing worse than being out in the sun and having dry lips.  Adam makes fun of my dependence on chapstick, but when we travel to places that aren't so dry, I promise I use way less.  It's not my fault, it's Utah's fault!!!  These are my favorite for walks.  I don't need color, just a little moisture and spf.

iPod
I got this for my birthday last year and I don't use it as much as I want.  It's hard to put something in my ears when I rely on them so much to do my job.  Is a baby crying?  Is Olivia asking for something?  Or worse, is Olivia being too quiet?  So it's great to listen to some tunes while we walk.  I only put in one ear (sorry Beatles songs, I have to skip you) so I can hear Olivia point out birds, trees and other fun things.  Having a little music makes me feel like I'm in a movie and helps the time pass faster.

Water
Nothing makes the time drag like thirst!

Phone
Just for safety, it's always good to have my phone.  Also it's good to know how long we've been out on our walks.

For the kids
I also let my kids bring something that they want.  I've let Olivia bring a water before too, but I draw the line at toys for her.  She drops them too much and it slows us down.  Axel can have a teething ring and it's great because he's just learning how to manipulate objects.  Also a very light blanket, because Axel is a blankie boy and loves something to cuddle, even when it's 90 degree out!

The nice thing about kids is using their stroller to haul all of my own stuff!  Ha!  What do you like when you go out for a walk?

Sheer Blonde Go Blonder for cheap

In high school I had loooong hair.  And it was blonde (of course).  So I decided to commemorate graduation and moving to BYU I would cut it all off and donate it.  I looked to Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail for inspiration.

This is the only picture I have of me with short hair on this computer. . . (Me with my cute grandparents at Macaroni Grill)

The problem was that I cut off all my blonde.  My hair naturally lightens in the summer and so my roots were a little bit darker and that's basically all that was left after cutting 13".  I've never been one to mess with my hair (no dye, no perms) and so I was hesitant to highlight it.  Until my mom found this awesome hair gel that would gradually lighten your hair.  I used it for a couple years and then it was no longer stocked at any of the stores I shopped with. (I believe you can still buy it online)  What was a girl to do?  I looked at the ingredients and figured peroxide was probably what did the trick.

And since then I've been highlighting my hair with peroxide.  I mix half peroxide half water in a spray bottle and I use it on my hair before bed probably once a month (more when I'm pregnant since my hair grows much faster).  Also, to start out you might need to use it more frequently, and then just occasionally for maintenance.  Recently John Frieda came out with a new product: Sheer Blonde Go Blonder.  I checked the ingredients on the bottle, and yep!  Peroxide.  So for about 97 cents you can make like ten bottles of this stuff, that usually sells for like $7 a bottle.  I'd say that's a good deal!
Keep in mind that if you're a brunette this isn't really going to work.  You might get some pretty highlights, but you're not going to go blonde.

Seriously so crazy

So I have to share one of my all time favorite blogs with you: Seriously, So Blessed

LOVE TAMN!

She's Mormon, she's from Utah, she's perfect and has twins.  And she's totally fake.  The woman behind the genius doesn't blog anymore, but if you haven't read any of it, you can fill some good hours with hilariousness.

When you get annoyed with super perfect looking bloggers, Seriously, So Blessed is totally the cure.

Enjoy.

Nail Polish

In case you haven't heard of this, or in case you haven't tried it. . .

Sally Hansen Insta-dri Nail Polish is where its at!!

I never wear nail polish on my fingers (my toes are painted always from March-October) because it chips so easily and I never have time to let it dry.

But I can paint my nails with this and 15 minutes later I'm good to go.  I mean, that's not even a full episode of Modern Family!

My favorite color right now is Petal Pusher, a really light pink (kind of like the color of my blog, interesting. . . ).  I had to buy a new bottle because mine from two years ago was all dried up.  I was so sad to buy new nail polish! (haha, NOT)
